Multi-stakeholder initiative consultation in the African Cashew sector
Over the last months, the Collective Leadership Institute has supported the African Cashew initiative (ACi) by providing process consultation and moderation. This project, a cooperation between the GTZ and the Bill Gates Foundation, is helping consolidate common stakeholder initiative. The African Cashew initiative (ACi) is a cooperation between civil organizations and private business partners aiming to improve the production and processing of Cashews in five African countries by enhancing market access for the individual actors along the value chain in order to make them more competitive on the global market.
Handbook: “Working with Stakeholder Dialogues In Sustainable Development”
The Collective Leadership Institute is currently planning the publication of a handbook, dealing with the result oriented implementation of Stakeholder Dialogues. Under the title, “Working with Stakeholder Dialogues In Sustainable Development“, the handbook will be published both in English and in German and give practice oriented strategies for initiating and implementing Stakeholder Dialogues in various sectors. All change, be it in response to climate change, improving social standards or the implementation of sustainable city and regional development, often requires a cooperation between different actors from the private and public sectors as well as from civil society. The success of any undertaking quite often depends on good planning and the careful implementation of collaboration. This Handbook will provide an in-depth introduction into instruments such as Stakeholder Dialogs and facilitate a well structured step-by-step planning of any collaborative endeavor. The techniques explained in the book are supported by real world practical examples from various sectors and demonstrate the chances created by incorporating Stakeholder Dialogs into the implementation of change processes.

Brochure on leadership competencies for sustainability:
In 2009 the CLI has been working on a comprehensive brochure on leadership competencies for sustainability for the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). The brochure is the result of a study on leadership competencies. We conducted semi-structured interviews with more than 30 differents counterparts from business - small and big - and institutions of higher learning across Germany. 24 representatives participated in a workshop on dialog at the BMU. The publication presents examples of entrepreneurial practice how internal change initiatives can be activated and promoted.
This brochure is only available in german language.
